The Inspiration Behind Red Cup: A Story From the Founder

Hey there! My name is Will and I'm the founder of Red Cup! This following blog post will go into detail about the story of the company and how we have grown from a one-man-team, to a five-person-team! Selling over 20,000 sustainable party cups across Australia and looking to enter into the US soon...

William Trengove | Founder of Red Cup Australia

For those of you who don't know, Red Cup is a company that provides reusable steel party cups. The idea for it came about in a rather unusual way. As someone who loves to go out and have a good time every weekend (back in 2021), I couldn't help but feel guilty about the amount of plastic cups I was using. One weekend, while I was out shopping for more disposable cups to play beer pong with, I had a random idea: "Why doesn't someone create a reusable party cup?" I thought this because I couldn't find any.

At first, it was nothing more than a fleeting thought and a joke shared between close friends. But as I gave the concept more thought, I became aware that it had the potential to have a significant impact on the environment if it were executed properly. I came to the conclusion that I needed to take matters into my own hands, so I decided to make a set of cups for myself out of stainless steel to trial the idea.

It turned out that some of my friends were also interested in using my reusable cups, and it became immediately obvious that there was a market for them. I started to think that this idea could be turned into a business, and in August 2021, I did just that.

I initially was going to call the company TruCup and have them as a green cup... but turns out that TruCup is an overseas company that sell reusable mensural cups! So we had to pivot and I decided on the name Red Cup!

The concept behind Red Cup is to offer a more environmentally friendly replacement for the disposable cups that are typically used at house parties and other types of events. We set out to design a product that would not only have a fantastic appearance, but would also be useful and practical. Our cups are constructed from premium stainless steel, which means they are resistant to the wear and tear that comes with regular use, and they can also be cleaned in the dishwasher for your convenience.

We also sought to offer a packs that were adaptable for everyone, which is why our cups are available in a variety of different options and can be used for a wide variety of occasions, from an informal backyard BBQ to an elegant wedding reception. We are confident that if we make available an option that can be reused, we will be able to greatly cut down on the amount of garbage that is produced at events and parties, which will, in turn, contribute to the development of a more environmentally friendly future.

We believe that it is possible to have fun and be environmentally conscious at the same time. We want to promote the idea of being responsible and how small changes in our daily lives can make a big impact on the environment. We are committed to supporting charitable organisations that are working to create a more sustainable future.

In addition, we are always looking for new ways to improve our products and make a positive impact on the environment. We have a dedicated research and development team that is constantly exploring new materials, designs and technologies to make our products even more eco-friendly.

At Red Cup, we believe that by providing a sustainable alternative to disposable cups, we can significantly reduce waste and create a more sustainable future. We are proud to be a part of the Red Cup community and look forward to continuing to innovate and evolve our products to better serve our customers.
